What you need:

  • 675g/1½lbs Autumn Fruits (e.g. Cooking Apples, Blackberries, Blueberries etc.)
  • 175g/6oz Odlums Self Raising Flour
  • Pinch of Goodall's Cinnamon
  • 125g/4oz Butter or Margarine (room temperature)
  • 125g/4oz Shamrock Golden Caster Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4 tablespoons Cold Water
  • Sugar, to sweeten fruit

How to:

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas 5. Lightly grease an ovenproof pie dish.
  2. Peel, core and slice apples, if used. Mix fruit together and place in the prepared dish. Sprinkle with sugar to sweeten.
  3. Put remaining ingredients into a large mixing bowl and beat together until smooth.
  4. Spread over the fruit and bake for about 40 minutes until nicely risen and golden brown.
  5. Serve hot with custard, cream or ice cream.
